Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations
The Office of University Relations provides the campus with a variety of creative services including advertising, graphic design, strategic marketing planning and public relations. University Relations also manages the university’s branding campaign and identity program.
Business, Goods & Shopping
UF Bookstore locations include the UF Bookstore & Welcome Center facility next to the Reitz Union, the law school, Health Science Center and veterinary medicine. Official UF merchandise can also be purchased through the Gator Sportshop. Purchasing employees help UF departments acquire material goods and services in accordance with the university’s policies.
Computing & Communications
The Information Technology (UFIT) provides direction and strategic planning in information delivery and computing standards, resources, and management. UFIT units include Academic Technology, UF Computing and Network Services, Web Administration and Data Infrastructure.
Health & Safety
The Student Health Care Center (SHCC), established in 1906, is an accredited outpatient clinic staffed by licensed, board-certified medical providers who pride themselves in keeping UF’s students, faculty and staff healthy through a wide variety of primary and specialty care services, including: general medical care; immunizations; dermatology; massage therapy; nutrition; occupational medicine; physical therapy; sports medicine; travel; women’s health; and workers compensation. The SHCC also conducts the annual campus influenza (flu) shot campaign.
Healthy Gators is a coalition of faculty, staff and students dedicated to creating a campus environment supportive of health for all members of the UF community.
UF Police Department, an integral part of UF’s dedication to maintaining a safe and secure campus, provides law enforcement, crime prevention, victim advocacy and game day security. Environmental Health and Safety handles inquiries related to biological safety, the UF Disaster Preparation Plan and the handling of suspicious mail.
The University of Florida Health Science Center (HSC) is closely affiliated with Shands HealthCare, part of the University of Florida Health System. Eight hospitals participate in this sytem including the academic hospitals Shands at UF with 630 beds in Gainesville and Shands Jacksonville with 696 beds in Jacksonville, Florida. Together with clinical programs and services across all HSC colleges, the UF&Shands partnership is dedicated to providing quality healthcare to the citizens of Florida and to advancing the practice of patient care.
Human Services
The Office of the University Registrar creates and safeguards academic records. The Office for Student Financial Affairs is the financial aid office for the university and helps students secure the funding necessary to pursue their educational goals.
Student Legal Services provides legal assistance to students. Baby Gator offers high-quality care for children of UF students, faculty and staff.
Multicultural & Diversity Affairs promotes an inclusive campus community by creating environments in which students learn about themselves and diverse others.
Production Services
University Relations provides full-service photography, which includes, but is not limited to, UF functions, in-studio work, large copy and medical photography. Video production is also available. Services and capabilities include recruitment videos, promotional spots and historical videos, among others.
The University Relations Publication group offers a variety of graphic design services including print and Web production. Their capabilities include brochures, magazines, newsletters, booklets, posters and banners.
These amenities are available to all university faculty, staff, students and affiliates.
UF&Shands
The UF&Shands system is comprised of two teaching hospitals encompassing a children’s hospital and cancer hospital; two specialty hospitals; two homecare agencies; and outpatient services including several rehab centers in Gainesville. There are also more than 80 affiliated University of Florida physician outpatient practices located throughout north central and northeast Florida. Shands also participates in joint ventures that operate three rural community hospitals in Lake City, Live Oak, and Starke. The approximately 1,500 UF faculty and community physicians on our medical staff provide care in more than 100 specialty and subspecialty medical areas, from primary care to highly complex care, including cancer, cardiovascular, neurology, neurosurgery, pediatrics and transplantation services.
