Alumni, Donors & Friends
We Are All Strong For Old Florida…
UF has an enormous family, stretching from the Gainesville campus all over the globe. Alumni (more than 340,000 in number), donors, friends and fans of UF are all considered family and stakeholders in the success of one of the nation’s top research universities. Some outstanding alumni include Nobel and Pulitzer prize winners, electronic digital computer inventor John Atanasoff, actress Faye Dunaway, U.S. Senators Bob Graham and Connie Mack, NFL all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith and NBC News anchor Forrest Sawyer.
The UF Alumni Association is one of the top 15 alumni associations in the country in number of members. Founded in 1906, the UF Alumni Association works to grow and strengthen the ongoing connection between UF and its faithful following. Gator Club activities, outreach programs, alumni reunions and nationally ranked athletic programs are just some of the ways that people stay engaged with UF.
The Gator Nation Network is an online social network for current UF students, alumni and friends. Users can keep in touch with fellow Gators, network with local and global alumni, find jobs and more.
Managing Private Resources
The UF Foundation is the fund-raising arm of UF and manages the university’s endowment. The ongoing operation of the university would not be possible without the support of private gifts from alumni, friends and corporations. Investments made in scholarships and fellowships, professorships, research, academic and athletic programs, and facilities are essential to the university and rewarding to the donor.
