HiPerGator Open for Business
HiPerGator is ready to start chomping data.
UF administrators, Dell computer executives, community leaders, and researchers gathered at East Campus on Tuesday, May 7, to celebrate the unveiling of one of the most powerful university supercomputers in the nation. VP and CIO Elias Eldayrie, UF President Bernie Machen, Gainesville Mayor Craig Lowe, COO Win Phillips and VP for Research David Norton participated in the ribbon-cutting for the new 25,000-square-foot UF Data Center that will house HiPerGator.
“Upgrading our computing capability is an important step in our efforts to be recognized as a top-10 public institution,” Norton told attendees. “These new capabilities enable our scientists to more effectively compete for projects that require intensive computing and to include collaborators from all over the world.”
